There are three types of gold – White gold, Rose gold, and the more common Yellow Gold. Although a gold ring may lose its brilliant shine after long years of use, it can always be polished by any jeweler to bring back its original shine and luster.

Mixing gold with other metals is how the different colors of gold are created. White Gold is formed by alloying gold with platinum or nickel, and rose gold is obtained with a combination of gold and copper. The most popular among these however for a men's gold ring, is the yellow gold, which is alloyed with silver and makes for the most expensive rings.
